Doggy Day Care at Barehams

Our Doggy Day Care is an invaluable service if you work or need your dog looked after whether it be regularly, for a one-off event, a whole day or half-day.

Available Monday-Saturday
7.30am-5.30pm

There are lots of people who already own, or would love to own, a dog. But sometimes, changes in lifestyle, appointments, special events and work make it difficult to care for a dog on a daily basis.

That is why we have established our Doggy Day Care. It is an invaluable service if you work or need your dog looked after whether it be regularly, for a one-off event, a day or half-day.

Our Doggy Day Care Services are specifically designed for dog owners with busy schedules. We understand that most people work long hours and hate to leave their dogs alone all day. We have created a facility where dogs can socialise, exercise and develop positive behaviours all in a safe, cage-free environment. Your dog will get to play with his or her friends all day, instead of sitting at home lonely and bored.

Make no bones about it, Doggy Day Care is right for you too !
When you’re tired out at the end of the day there’s nothing like picking up your happy and well-exercised dog to relax with and enjoy.

About us

Set within 3 acres of countryside yet close to the M25, Barehams offers the very best Doggy Day Care Services in the area. We recognise the need for a safe, secure and a stimulating day for our guests and our aim is to create a friendly and playful environment. Your dog will be doing as it does best by naturally becoming part of the pack! We carefully select dogs that are suitable for Day Care and ensure that, when here, they are segregated into different groups dependant on their age, size and any other individual requirements, in order to get the most from their stay.

We benefit from very experienced staff, who, between them, have many years in handling dogs. In fact, some staff have been with us over 20 years! Tracey Occleshaw (owner) has worked at the family business for nearly 30 years, as such she benefits in having a vast experience in dog behaviours and animal welfare.

Day care pick up and drop off service

Unable to drop your puppy or small dog off to us, no need to worry you can use our Pick Up & Drop Off service available for Day Care guests.

Please note: Drop off and pick up is available within a 3 mile radius and is on an availability basis.

Socialising

Some owners bring their dogs to our Doggy Day Care purely for socialisation – it is very important that your pet learns how to interact and play with other dogs and our Doggy Day Care Crèche offers exercise, fun and socialisation – the key elements for encouraging a happy, well rounded and fun dog to live with.

Puppies

If you have a puppy, the Doggy Day Care is perfect for their early months! Just a few hours with us, even for a few weeks, will help them become happy, friendly and sociable pets.

Your dog’s first visit to Day Care

We offer an ‘open play’ environment with no kennel runs and therefore each dog must undergo an assessment before they can join the pack. This assessment will take place before your dog’s first visit. Please call to arrange a mutually convenient day and time for your dog to be assessed. During your dog’s assessment we will carefully introduce and monitor your dog’s behaviour and general well-being. Assuming everything is okay we will confirm suitability.

Please note: it is our policy to NOT include aggressive dogs. If you would like advice about aggressive pets and training please call us. We are also unable to accept dogs that are in season or are unwell.

Dedicated Day Care Reception area

We have a dedicated Doggy Day Care Reception area which will allow you to drop off your dog in a quick time which is away from our main reception area.

Our Doggy Day Care Reception is open in the mornings between the hours 7.30am-10am - this eases congestion and allows you to 'drop off and go'.

Indoor arena

We have the best doggy day care facilities to ensure both our guests and their owners benefit:

  • Huge artificial grass indoor area - to help keep your dogs cleaner on wet days
  • A dedicated puppy day care area - to help ease the overwhelming experience of meeting and playing with bigger dogs
  • New segregated various outdoor areas

Proving the best possible care

Please always discuss with us any concerns you may have before your dog starts having fun at our Doggy Day Care.

Please note:

  • Please let us know of any dog characteristics which may make your dog unsuitable for Day Care: behavioural/health problems, anti-social or aggressive behaviour, lack of house training, or excessive barking.
  • All vaccinations must be up to date with flea and worming treatments.
  • We strongly recommend your dog is inoculated against Kennel Cough. Please note, however, the Kennel Cough Vaccination does not guarantee that your pet will not show symptoms of the virus. Inoculation must be done at least three weeks prior to arriving at the kennels. Barehams Kennels pet insurance does not ordinarily cover symptoms of Kennel Cough.
  • Dogs over 9 months need to be neutered and no bitches in season.
  • We ask that you do not bring your dog if it has had symptoms of vomiting or diarrhoea in the past 24 hours. We would not like to spread any type of illness to the other dogs.
  • Remember dogs play with teeth and claws which is normal for all all dog play. So if a puncture that may or may not require stitches, a nick on the ear that may bleed, scrapes and scratches. Any such situation arising will be dealt with by trained handlers. However, we stress that all dogs attending Barehams Day Care Centre will be at the owner’s own risk.
  • Barehams Kennels Pet Insurance does not cover injuries in the event of dogs fighting.
  • Please ensure you details by us are always up to date.
  • If you require your dog to be fed whilst in our care, your own food must be provided. All dogs will be fed separately and away from other dogs.
