Professional Pet Care - putting your pet first

Boarding Terms & Conditions

In order for our kennel staff to offer the best possible care for pets, we kindly ask that you adhere to our opening times as stated, for arrivals and departures. Please note that no other times are acceptable as this causes stress to other boarders and disturbs the daily routines. Thanks for your co-operation.

As part of the licensing conditions and for the safety of all boarders, all Dogs and Cats for boarding must be fully inoculated and an up to date vaccination book must be presented when bringing your animal(s) in. We will enter the dates of vaccination expiry onto our system .We are unable to board any cat or dog without valid vaccinations.

We strongly recommend that you have your dog inoculated against Kennel Cough. (Canine Infectious Bronchitis). Please note, however, that Kennel Cough Vaccination does not guarantee that your pet will not show symptoms of the virus. If you decide to have this inoculation, it must be done at least three weeks prior to arriving at the kennels. Barehams Kennels pet insurance does not ordinarily cover symptoms of Kennel Cough.

Dogs, under the owner’s control, must be kept on a lead at all times whilst on the premises.

The proprietors have the right to refuse any animal, which appears to be in ill health.

Please ensure any medication or own food is clearly marked with the pet’s name, your surname and full instructions of dosage.
Any vets’ fees incurred for treatment of pre-existing conditions must be settled by the owner at the time of collection. If the dog/cat is at the vets’ any outstanding veterinary fees must be settled prior to removal. The insurance will only cover veterinary treatment for an illness that has occurred at Barehams Kennels or that first shows clinical signs within a maximum of 72 hours of leaving the kennels. Receipts for veterinary treatment must be submitted to our insurance company within 21 days of treatment. Our Pet Insurance does not cover incidents of dogs fighting and subsequent injury, and also treatment for Kennel Cough.

Whilst every care is taken of your pet(s) during their stay no we accept no responsibility for any loss or illness that occurs.

Day Care Terms & Conditions

Safety is of utmost importance to both your pet and our staff. It is therefore a requirement that your dog shows no form of aggression towards adults, children and other dogs.

Owners must undertake to make full disclosure of any characteristic which may make your dog unsuitable for Day Care. This will include behavioural / health problems, anti-social or aggressive behaviour, lack of house training, or excessive barking. Failure on the part of the owner to disclose any matter which might render the owner’s dog unsuitable for Day Care will be deemed a material omission to a fundamental breach of our agreement.

Owners must ensure their dogs are fully vaccinated and up to date with flea and worming treatments.

Neutered dogs only. (Over 9 months) and no bitches in season.

We ask that you do not bring your dog if it has had symptoms of vomiting or diarrhoea in the past 24 hours. We would not like to spread any type of illness to the other dogs.

The inherent risk of free dog play is a puncture that may or may not require stitches, a nick on the ear that may bleed, scrapes and scratches. All of these can occur from normal dog play. Remember dogs play with teeth and claws which is normal for all dog play. Any such situation arising will be dealt with by trained handlers. However, we stress that all dogs attending Barehams Day Care Centre will be at the owner’s own risk.

Barehams Kennels Pet Insurance does not cover injuries in the event of dogs fighting.

We must have, at all times, accurate details of the owner to include, name, address and contact telephone number.

If you require your dog to be fed whilst in our care, your own food must be provided. All dogs will be fed separately and away from other dogs.

It is the owner’s responsibility to ensure timely collection of their dog. Late collections may incur extra charges of £10 per hour.

Whilst every effort is made to ensure the welfare of animals, we accept no responsibility for animals whilst being transported during our ‘collection and drop off service’.

Grooming Terms & Conditions

Matted Dogs: In the event of any dog needing a shave down/clip down, the owner should be aware that irritation may occur from the shaving process, as well as uncovering nicks, cuts or other potential problems.

The owner agrees that Barehams will not be held liable for any after-grooming effects of matt clipping procedures or problems “uncovered” by clipping off a badly matted, neglected coat.

No dog will be subjected to stress or discomfort and all dogs will be groomed in accordance with The Animal Welfare Act 2006.
Dangerous Dogs: The owner (or other responsible person) agrees to inform Barehams prior to grooming if the dog has bitten or has aggressive tendencies.

Barehams reserves the right to muzzle your dog or ask you to muzzle your own dog or to refuse to groom it if it represents a danger to us or other dogs in the salon. Unless this has been discussed and agreed beforehand we reserve the right to turn your dog away without grooming it.

Normal Condition: It is assumed that you will bring your dog into the salon in Normal Condition. That is; that you groom your dog at home (right down to the skin) regularly between appointments. Any condition other than “Normal” will most probably take us longer to deal with and therefore could incur additional charges.

Please ensure your dog has had an adequate chance to relieve itself before you come to the grooming salon.
